Coaching Staff
Todd Butler - Coach
Coach Todd has 11 years of playing experience at the collegiate and senior mens level. Entering his 5th season as a Zionsville coach, he leads the Fall 7s campaign and assists with spring 15s. In addition to coaching the Eagles, Coach Todd is an active referee with the Indiana Referee Society. He loves the brotherhood the sport brings.
Shayla Meinders - Coach
Shayla loves that Rugby is a sport for everyone - where all players are welcomed and supported. She has been playing rugby for more than 8 years and coaching for the past few years. She works to develop a positive relationship with her players and loves to see them grow their game.
Casey Farrell - Coach
Coach Casey is originally from Oak Lawn, IL. He started playing rugby in college and has been playing on and off for more than 28 years. His favorite part of the sport is testing yourself physically during a match and coming out on the other end better for it.
Fun fact: Coach Casey has 4 kids playing rugby in the youth program.
Megan Daniel - Coach
Coach Megan has played rugby for 5 years. She isa Purdue Rugby alumnus with Bachelor's degree in Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering Technology. She has played for the Indiana select side for both U23 and Senior levels. She has been coaching for more than 2 years serving the middle school girls' head coach, as well as assisting with the high school girls’ team. Her best days are spent on a rugby pitch and seeing the girls improve their skills and learn to love the sport as much as she does. When she's not coaching, she works full-time as a Robot Programmer for Caterpillar Large Engine Center.
Erik Larsen - Coach
As a founding member of Zionsville Rugby in 2003, Erik has played and coached for more than 20 years. His coaching experience includes youth teams as well as high school boys and girls. While currently residing in Carmel with his wife Valeriya, Erik has stayed dedicated to his Zionsville roots and looks forward to helping develop a love of the game in our Club's young players.
Trey McGinn - Coach
Trey began his rugby journey at Central Oregon College, where he played for two seasons before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. During his service, he continued to play the game overseas, representing the base team at RAF Lakenheath in England for two seasons. After completing enlistment, Trey earned a degree in Aviation from Purdue University, where he played wing and fullback for the Boilermakers over three seasons. His coaching experience includes two seasons of high school rugby at Carmel and Zionsville High Schools, as well as two seasons coaching high school football at Zionsville.
Simon Hunter - Coach
Coach Simon was born in Orpington, Kent, England where he played rugby as a kid, ages 12-15 (Winger, Hooker & Scrum Half). He moved to the US in 1989 as a high school sophomore, where he played soccer. He helped start a rugby club at Butler University and played rugby at Butler (Fly-Half). He moved to Zionsville in 2016 and currently coaches the 7th and 8thgrade boys' rugby team. When he's not coaching he enjoys working out and golf.
Fun fact: Simon raced BMWs for 10 years and was a driving instructor for the BMW Club. He has been known to break dance occasionally.
Jared - Coach
Born and Raised in Sacramento, CA Coach Jared moved with his family from Savannah, GA to Zionsville IN in the middle of COVID for work. Before that, he played football, water polo and swan in high school. He first played rugby while in college at Syracuse University. He has played with rugby teams in Macon, GA, San Antonio TX, Sacramento, CA, Savannah GA, Western Suburbs (Washington DC area) and Vienna Austria. He assisted in starting youth rugby programs in Sacramento and San Antonio and have also coached football, basketball and soccer at the youth level. Jared enjoys the camaraderie of the sport and the bond that is created by working together as a team through tough times. He served as an officer in the Air Force and now works in the Aerospace Industry when he's not coaching!
